By using some simple steps you can download data in Excel from Tally. After converting Data in Excel you can manage the data as you want. Exporting tally data in excel format is very important function we are looking for. Data’s in excel format is essential for a quick analysis of business results. Excel has unlimited options like using formulas, filtering, sorting data’s and many more. Tally has limited options for data analysis. Fortunately latest versions of Tally 9 and ERP9 have the facility to export data’s directly in excel format. But in older version like tally 6.3, tally7.2, tally 8.1 do not have the facility of exporting data’s in excel format. But there is an easier way to do this.
There are two methods we are going to explain here. Earlier one is easier than latter. lets consider exporting day book of ABC LTD.

Press export button or use short cut key Alt + E a new screen will appear called report generation screen
Now press backspace to alter Format and output file name. change as below.
Format= ASCII (comma delimited)
output file name = Daybook.csv
Make sure that format must be in ASCII and the extension of file name must be .csv now press enter and accept the screen.
Go to tally program folder, if you do not go where it exists, right click on tally program icon, click on properties, then click find target. tally program folder will open. there you can find a file called Daybook.csv
Open this file, data,s are displayed in columns and cells of the excel sheet
Lets discuss the second method.
Export the file in same manner and change the file extension name as daybook.txt format should be ASCII (comma delimited).
Now open Microsoft excel, click on file, then click on open and locate the the text file we have exported in tally program folder
Text import wizard will appear.
Make sure that data type is selected “Delimited“, then click on next button to have second step of the text import wizard. in this stage select “comma” only under “Delimiters”
Click on finish, you will see all the data’s are imported in excel sheet.
