The Financial Year 2012-13 (Assessment Year 2013-14) has been finished on March 31, 2013. Every one of us is liable to file his/her Income Tax return either in ONLINE mode or by submitting it manually with the Income Tax Depart. The Last date of which was July 31, 2013. Now the Government of India has extended the last date for filing your income tax returns to August 5, 2013.An unprecedented surge in the number of income tax returns being filed electronically is the main reason for extending the due date by five days. PTI stated the finance ministry as follows, “As a measure of taxpayers convenience, it has been decided to extend the due date of filing of returns from July 31, 2013 to August 5, 2013.”According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes, there has been an exceptional rush in the number of people filing their income tax returns online.This year till July 30, about 92 lakh returns have been electronically filed, which is 46.8 per cent higher than the returns e-filed during the corresponding period last fiscal, according to Press Trust of India.Also, considering the large-scale devastation due to recent natural calamity in the State of Uttarakhand, the Central Board of Direct Taxes extended the due date for filing returns of income to October 31, 2013 for income tax assesses residing or assessed in the State of Uttarakhand.Haven’t filed your IT returns yet?
