Now the Government of India has extended the last date for filing your income tax returns to August 5, 2013.An unprecedented surge in the number of income tax returns being filed electronically is the main reason for extending the due date by five days. PTI stated the finance ministry as follows, “As a measure of taxpayers convenience, it has been decided to extend the due date of filing of returns from July 31, 2013 to August 5, 2013.”According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes, there has been an exceptional rush in the number of people filing their income tax returns online.This year till July 30, about 92 lakh returns have been electronically filed, which is 46.8 per cent higher than the returns e-filed during the corresponding period last fiscal, according to Press Trust of India.Also, considering the large-scale devastation due to recent natural calamity in the State of Uttarakhand, the Central Board of Direct Taxes extended the due date for filing returns of income to October 31, 2013 for income tax assesses residing or assessed in the State of Uttarakhand.Haven’t filed your IT returns yet? File Your Income Tax Return by 31st July 2013 : e-Filing of Income Tax Return Mandatory if Income Exceeds Rs. 5,00,000/-

Last year, Income Tax Department made it compulsory to file Income Tax Return in Electronic Mode (e-Filing) for those individuals whose income exceeds Rs. 10,00,000/-. A notification bearing no. 34/2013 dated 01.05.2013 has been issued by the department. Now E filing of Income tax return is mandatory for all persons having income more than Rs 5,00,000/-. Further if you have claim double taxation benefit under section 90 ,90A, or section 91, return filing through online mode is mandatory .In previous year almost 1.00 crore assessees, who income is less than 10,00,000/- has filed voluntary e filing of income tax return . After analyzing these stats ,CBDT has reduced the e filing Income Limit for all assessees to Rs 500000/- from assessment year 2013-14. The notification can be read as under :

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 1st day of May, 2013

Income-tax

S.O. 1111 (E).─ In exercise of the powers conferred by section 295 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), the Central Board of Direct Taxes hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Income-tax Rules, 1962, namely:-

1. (1) These rules may be called the Income-tax (3rd Amendment) Rules, 2013.

(2) They shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the 1st day of April, 2013.

2. In the Income-tax Rules, 1962 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), in rule 12,─

(a) in sub-rule (1),-

(A) for the figures “2012”, the figures “2013” shall be substituted;

(B) in item (a),─

(i) in sub-item (iii), after the words “income from race horses”, the words “and does not have any loss under the head” shall be inserted;

(ii) for the proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely:-

“Provided that the provisions of this clause shall not apply to a person who,-

(I) is a resident, other than not ordinarily resident in India within the meaning of sub-section (6) of section 6 and has,─

(i) assets (including financial interest in any entity) located outside India; or

(ii) signing authority in any account located outside India;

(II) has claimed any relief of tax under sections 90 or 90A or deduction of tax under section 91; or

(III) has income not chargeable to tax, exceeding five thousand rupees.”;

(C) in clause (ca), for the proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely:-

“Provided that the provisions of this clause shall not apply to a person who,-

(I) is a resident, other than not ordinarily resident in India within the meaning of sub-section (6) of section 6 and has,─

(i) assets (including financial interest in any entity) located outside India; or

(ii) signing authority in any account located outside India;

(II) has claimed any relief of tax under sections 90 or 90A or deduction of tax under section 91; or

(III) has income not chargeable to tax, exceeding five thousand rupees.”;

(b) in sub-rule(2), the following proviso shall be inserted, namely:-

“Provided that where an assessee is required to furnish a report of audit under sections 44AB, 92E or 115JB of the Act, he shall furnish the same electronically.”;

(c) in sub-rule (3), in the proviso,-

(A) in clause (a),─

(i) for the words “an individual or a hindu undivided family”, the words “a person, other than a company and a person required to furnish the return in Form ITR-7” shall be substituted;

(ii) for the words “ten lakh rupees” the words “five lakh rupees” shall be substituted;

(iii) for the figures “2012-13”, the figures “2013-14” shall be substituted;

(B) after clause (aaa), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:-

“(aab) a person claiming any relief of tax under section 90 or 90A or deduction of tax under section 91 of the Act, shall furnish the return for assessment year 2013-14 and subsequent assessment years in the manner specified in clause (ii) or clause (iii);”

(C) in clause (b), after the words, brackets and figure “in clause (i)”, the words, brackets and figures “or clause (ii) or clause (iii)” shall be inserted.

(d) in sub-rule 4, after the words, brackets and figures “of sub-rule(3)”, the words and figures “and the report of audit in the manner specified in proviso to sub-rule (2)” shall be inserted.

(e) in sub-rule (5), for the figures “2011”, the figures “2012” shall be substituted.

3. In the said rules, in Appendix-II, for “Forms SAHAJ (ITR-1), ITR-2, ITR-3, SUGAM (ITR-4S), ITR-4 and ITR-V”, the “Forms SAHAJ (ITR-1), ITR-2, ITR-3, SUGAM (ITR-4S), ITR-4 and ITR-V” shall be substituted.

After booking the ticket, the user will get ticket details on SMS instantly. The users have no need to take printout of this ticket. Just visit with your mobile in which you have received SMS with a valid ID in original. The service has been started w.e.f. 28th of June 2013. Ticket booking through non-internet based mobile, introduced as a pilot project by Indian Railways Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a Public Sector Undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, will also help Railways in overcoming the menace of touting whereby unsuspecting people are fleeced by such elements. This will particularly be useful for labourers and workers staying away from their home and who have to book tickets for travel to their native place. The undersigned is directed to invite reference to this Ministry’s Office Memorandum No: S.11011/23/2009-CGHS D.II/Hospital Cell (Part IX) dated 14.02.2013, vide which the `Continuous Empanelment Scheme’ for private hospitals and diagnostic centers under CGHS was revived with a view to empanel more such facilities for the CGHS beneficiaries. Accordingly, after following the due process, a list of private hospitals (including dental clinics and eye centers), diagnostic centers and imaging centers has been finalized as per the terms and conditions laid down in the O.M. referred to above as well as signing of MOA and execution of Performance Bank Guarantee by them signifying acceptance of the terms and conditions of empanelment and rates notified under CGHS in 2010 and in OM No. Misc.1002/2006/CGHS(R&H)/ CGHS (P) dated 07.02.2013.

2. The enlisted hospitals (including dental clinics and eye centers), diagnostic laboratories  and imaging centers, which were already on the panel of CGHS, Delhi & NCR as on 31.03.2013 shall deem to be empanelled under CGHS, Delhi & NCR w.e.f. 01.4.2013 for a period of one year or till next new empanelment, whichever is earlier.

3. The other new hospitals (including dental clinics and eye centers), diagnostic laboratories and imaging centers, as per the list enclosed, are empanelled for a period of one year from the date of issue of this Office Memorandum or till the next new empanelment, whichever is earlier,
