How to Use New Rupee Symbol in MS Office/Excel

Friends,

A Few months ago the Indian Government has announced the Symbol for Rupee currency. It could take some time to be popular and implement the same in all over the world. Further if someone wants to use this symbol, then it is not available in the present keyboards. Then How to Use this New Rupee Symbol. Friends, here is the technique to use this symbol.

A Mangalore based company Foradian Technologies has already made a new font available for users who would like to use the new Rupee symbol on their computers. While the sign may take time to be adopted by Unicode, that doesn't mean you should not be using the font all the while.

How to use ?
-->

1. Download the above attached font Rupee.ttf or the new version Rupee_Foradian.ttf from the Links given below.

2. To Install this font Just copy the font and paste it in "Fonts" folder in control panel.

3. Now you can easily use this Font. Start using it.

System to type the Rupee symbol :-

Follow these steps in MS Office/Excel to use this Font

Download the Rupee Firadian.ttf which given in the above.

Just copy and paste that in the Fonts folder (general location is C:\WINDOWS\Fonts). If you still not found..search for fonts in the windows search..you will definitely find.

Open MS Office - Word or MS EXCEL

Select and Change the font to Rupee (Generally Arial or Times New Roman will be there)

Just Press the button '~' which is above the TAB button and left to the button '1' and below the 'Esc' button.

Optional step : Select the symbol and change the size to bigger (48 or 76 which ever you like)

Have you got it...?

Rupee symbol mapped the grave accent symbol - ` (the key just above "tab" button in your keyboard) with the new Rupee symbol. Just select "Rupee" font from the drop down list of your fonts in your application and press the key just above your tab button. It will display our new rupee symbol. Try it.

Convert Scanned Copy into Word Document

Friends,

It's a very much useful feature. Each and every one of us is need now a days to convert a scaned copy into Word Document. Isn't is amazing ? Is it Possible ? The answer of the question is YES. Read below how it works.

How to Change a Scanned Document into a Word Document

When you scan a document into your computer, you have the added security of a digital duplicate.However, if you scanned the document hoping to be able to access it in Microsoft Word, you may have found it did not work. Fortunately, Microsoft has a tool that converts a scanned document into a Word file.

Do you find yourself frequently needing to select an entire line of text in a Word document? It isn’t too hard, right? Just left click the beginning or end of the line and drag, drag, drag that little mousie across it. Same goes for selecting an entire paragraph. But what if I told you there was another way that might be simpler. Actually, there are a few ways, but for now let’s put our minds in the gutter. Not THAT gutter, silly! I’m talking about the gutter on the left side of your Word document, where the Selection Bar can be found.

Never heard of the Selection Bar? Well then, here is another one of those nifty little tips to keep in your back pocket. Move your mouse over to the right margin area of your Word document until your pointer changes from sort of looking like a capital “I” to a white arrow. Move it parallel to the line you want to select and click your mouse. Voila! Your line is selected. To select more lines, just keep the mouse button held down and move the mouse downward.

Here is another nifty trick for you to remember. Sometimes you might want to select just the first part of the text in a Word document. For example, maybe you have typed a bunch of columns (as opposed to using the Columns button) and you want to select all of one column. If so, try this: press and hold the Alt key and, starting at the top left of the text, click your mouse and drag as far to the right as you want to select. “Pull” the mouse downward to select just that left section of the text. Nifty, right?

Do you have a favorite text selection tip or trick you’d like to share? Shoot me an email! I’d love to hear about it.

Unique Page Numbering Options in Word Document

Friends,

If you are using M S Word for long topics which requires some setting of Page Numbering then this topic may help you a lot in this regard. Have you ever wanted to customize your page numbers in Word? There are some interesting options that will help you give your document that something extra it might be lacking.

To begin, put your cursor on the page where you want your page numbers to appear. If you want it in your document’s footer, go to the View menu in Word 2003, select Header and Footer and then click inside of the footer. In Word 2007 or 2010, go to the Insert tab. Click on Footer in the Header & Footer group and select Edit Footer.

Next, press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F9 (that is the F9 key at the top of the keyboard, not F and 9). This inserts field braces, which will look like this { } except they will have a kind of gray shade around them. Simply typing in the brackets does not work. Trust me, I have tried it.

Here is where it gets fun. Want your page number in Roman numerals? Type PAGE \* ROMAN between the brackets so that it looks like so:

{ PAGE \* ROMAN }

You will notice the word Roman is in caps. The numerals on your pages will follow suit, so if you want the numerals lowercase, type PAGE \* roman.

There is one more step to make this work. Right-click the field area and select Update Field. Voila!  Roman numerals.

You can also use { PAGE \* ALPHABETIC } for pages that are actually lettered rather than numbered, or { PAGE \* CardText } for spelled out numbers such as one, two and three.

Thanks for Your Visit
